Lexington, NC – David Inabinett, Managing Member of Brinkley Walser, PLLC, today congratulated Robert “R.B.” Smith, Jr. on his 50th year in practice. Smith was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1964 and has practiced law in Davidson County ever since.

“R.B. is a great asset to the firm,” says Inabinett. “He represents clients with the highest level of integrity and works with our less experienced team members as a mentor, sharing his broad range of experience. We congratulate him on reaching this 50-year milestone.” Smith merged his law firm with Brinkley Walser in 2008, coming on board in an Of Counsel role. He focuses his practice on business law, probate and estate administration, municipal law, personal injury, land use regulation, and real property law (including subdivisions and commercial development). He is also a certified mediator and arbitrator in NC. The firm plans a celebration later this month. Smith has also been invited to attend the NC State Bar 50 Year Lawyer Luncheon in Raleigh on October 23, 2014.

“I became an attorney to help people,” says Smith. “Through the years, I have worked as the city attorney in Lexington, formed numerous foundations, represented clients in first-degree murder cases, medical malpractice cases, personal injury cases, and handled a variety of complex commercial litigation, among other things. Through the years, I have gotten to know many wonderful people in Davidson County and the surrounding towns and over the coming years I hope to meet many more.” Smith has served in a variety of volunteer and community service roles, including as President of the Kiwanis Club and Chairman of the Davidson County Democratic Party. He is married to Martha Ellen Miller Smith and the father of three children; Amy S. Klass, practicing attorney with Smith Moore Leatherwood, LLP; Shelly S. Rice, former Charlotte school teacher and homemaker; and Robert B. Smith, III, computer engineer at Queens College in Charlotte, NC.
