Event hosted by Lexington City Schools fills backpacks with food for students in need
Lexington, NC – Karen Greene, Business Manager for Brinkley Walser, PLLC, today announced the firm is a silver sponsor of the Lexington City Schools Backpack 5k Run Walk scheduled for November 8, 2014. The race is a fundraiser to support the Backpack Program, which provides food each weekend to local children who might otherwise go hungry.
“Lexington City Schools are ranked 66th in the nation for childhood poverty,” says Greene. “There are hundreds of local children who rely on school breakfast and lunch as their sole source of food during the week. The Backpack Program sends food home for the weekend with around 300 of these kids. We are pleased to support the school’s efforts to make a difference in the lives of our youth.” The Backpack 5k Run Walk will kick off at the Davidson County Government Center, 913 Greensboro Street in Lexington, at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 8. Sign-in and registration begins at 7:30. For more information or to register, go to www.active.com.
